Yeah he was a little weird
“Good looks are an important requisite for an aspiring harpist”
okay
all about the new aesthetic aspect of the harp and a reaction against the stillness and non-theatricality of typical playing up until that point I guess
And yeah, I remember something about him going “COLD FINGERS ARE JUST A FIGMENT OF YOUR IMAGINATION” which goes right along with “GLOVES ARE FOR THE WEAK”
but it’s kinda adorable how he refused to refer to glissandi as glissandi and called them aeolian fluxes because that sounded prettier and went to lyon and healy and told them they were doing it wrong
he’s like that really weird grandfather to almost every harp player in the world

1. What is more difficult for you, looking into someones eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someones eyes when they are telling you how they feel?

I have a really good stone cold poker face reserved especially for occasions when someone is telling me how they feel so probably the first one. I do better with writing important things to someone.

2. Think of the last time you were REALLY angry. WHY were you angry? Do you still feel the same way?

I don’t think I’ve gotten truly angry for a very long time. I mostly get annoyed, such as the time I dragged you down the hallway when you refused to go to where you were supposed to be. I told you about my most recent drastic annoyance while walking down the science wing, but I’d prefer not to repeat it online. Regarding that incident, I still feel like an injustice was committed, but I’m not as annoyed; it’s in the past.

6. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late even once more, you are fired. Do you take the time to save the dogs life? Why or Why not?

I’d like to say I’d take the time without hesitation. The more realistic scenario: I would halt and consider the sight for a moment, but keep walking to work. The guilt, however, would gnaw at me. I would consider the ethical question, right and wrong, the need of having a stable job, the consequences for myself. Perhaps I have student debt after graduating, perhaps I am supporting someone else, paying off a medical bill, perhaps I am simply feeling selfish. In the end, I do believe that I would turn back, but by the time I would reach that conclusion, the dog would have probably drowned. I would attempt to resuscitate it, certainly, call for help, but it would probably be of no avail. I would show up to work an hour late, reeking of wet dog fur, and my boss would fire me. In the end we would all lose, which is why I would make it a point to show up to work on time regularly so my boss wouldn’t have to offer the ultimatum of removal should I fail to be prompt in attendance.

13. When was the last time you told someone HONESTLY how you felt regardless of how difficult it was for you to say? Who was it? What did you have to tell the person?

How I felt? Probably well over a year, not counting shallow feels moments. What I thought/am thinking though is a different story. I can’t really remember what it would have been about, but I talked to my brother about stuff like feelings because he is a stoic philosopher Spock kinda person and therefore generally makes lots of sense and has lots of insights.
